Rooted in Christ - Congregational Update

Dear Trinity Family,

Two years ago, in November 2023, we gathered for our first Strategic Planning Meeting—a time of prayer, conversation, and hope for what God was doing in and through Trinity Lutheran Church and School. Since then, much has been happening behind the scenes as we align our mission and vision with every part of our shared ministry. This past year has brought significant change and transition; we’ve felt some of the natural weariness that comes with seasons like this, yet we’ve also seen God’s faithfulness in new faces, new ministries, and growth across our life together.

Many of you have been asking, “What’s happening with the plan?” or “Where are we headed next?” We’re grateful for your care and curiosity—and want to share a brief update on how this work continues to unfold as we remain committed to being a place of hope, belonging, and purpose for generations to come.

Here’s an update of what’s been happening and what’s upcoming:

Staffing

  • We give thanks for faithful staff who have transitioned to new seasons of life and ministry, including LuAnn, who will conclude her service in January.

  • We’ve welcomed new team members who bring fresh gifts and energy to both church and school ministries.

  • Our boards and teams are working to align staffing and create job descriptions with ministry priorities so each role supports meaningful connection and discipleship.

  • We remain understaffed in several areas, which impacts daily operations. A plan for next steps in hiring is expected by early 2026.

  • As we plan for a second called worker, this will be a strategic, prayerful decision shaped by input from the congregation.

Budget and Stewardship

  • The finance team and leadership boards are in the middle of a deep review of finances, taking deliberate steps to align the budget with our vision, emphasizing sustainability, transparency, and ministry impact.

  • We’re working to right-size programs and spending, ensuring that resources are used wisely and with a focus on the future.

  • Through your generosity and faithfulness, Trinity continues to stand on a solid foundation, with gratitude for God’s ongoing provision.

Ministry and Mission

  • Our ministry teams have been revisiting programs to make sure each one reflects our shared vision — helping people grow deeper in faith, serve with joy, and connect in community.

  • This fall’s Rooted series will help us remember that even as we grow and change, our foundation in Christ remains firm.

  • The process of aligning our ministries is ongoing, and we’re excited about what’s emerging as we listen to God’s call for the next chapter of Trinity’s life together.

Friends, these are exciting days. God is at work among us, and the steps we take together this year will shape Trinity’s ministry for generations to come. I’m grateful to walk this journey with you and filled with hope for what’s ahead. As we enter this next season, I invite you to join me for a one-hour conversation about Trinity’s next steps—a time to hear where we are, where we’re headed, and how you can be part of the journey.

Together, we’ll continue to seek God’s guidance, build on the strong roots we share, and look with confidence toward the future He is preparing for us. Thank you for your prayers, patience, and partnership; the same God who has guided Trinity for generations is still at work—renewing, reshaping, and calling us forward in faith.

God’s peace!
